Angels For YouSample
Not all angels have wings
All angels have wings, right? Whenever we think of angels we think of winged creatures, like the chubby babies we see on every article of clothing. You can’t forget the people who like dressing up as angels as a costume!
You want to know what’s crazy, though? Whenever the Bible mentions angels, they never mention those chubby babies. There are only two creatures in the Bible who are said to have wings: cherubim and seraphim. Try saying that three times fast. They were creatures with some strange body parts that came from different animals! Ezekiel described it as, “each of the four had the face of a human being, and on the right side each had the face of a lion, and on the left the face of an ox; each also had the face of an eagle.”
The job of these angels was to guard the glorious presence of God from all that is impure or unclean. No, not like your dirty laundry. It’s because God’s presence is unique. No sin can stand in the presence of God. But God does not want us to remain outside his presence. He does not want us turned away by the angels who are charged with guarding his throne room. That is why He sent Jesus.
Because He died and rose from death, he presents the sacrifice of his body and blood before God to cleanse us from the stain of sin. If we trust in Jesus, we can walk boldly into the throne room of God without worrying about being destroyed by those crazy-looking angels! Instead, we can join them in praising God for who He is.
