Advent For You

DAY 5 OF 5

Love is all we need

Have you ever gotten in trouble by your parents? We have all been there. Our punishment looks something like getting our phone taken away for a week or not being able to play video games for a month. It seemed like the end of the world, didn’t it? Chances are, you were grounded because you did something bad.

If you are being honest with yourself, you may say you got what you deserved. You deserved the punishment because you were being disrespectful, or you didn’t do your chores that were asked of you.

We mess up every single day. We say the wrong thing or do the wrong thing. But Jesus loved us so much that he didn’t want us to stay that way. Ephesians says, “But because of his great love for us, God who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions – it is by grace you have been saved.”

God sent us the greatest gift when He sent Jesus to forgive us of all of our sins. Truth is, we all deserved to be punished for our wrongdoings, but because of Jesus, we never get what we deserved. We got something better. He took the blame for us when He died on the cross!

With Christmas coming soon, there will be gifts received and gifts given. None of those gifts can compare to the best gift of all – the gift of Jesus.

Just as you would share a cool gift you received with those around you, think of ways you can share the gift of Jesus to those who may not know this Christmas season.

P.S. If you want to receive an encouraging email in your inbox every day, I invite you to subscribe to A Miracle Every Day. By subscribing, you will receive an E-book!

About this Plan

Advent For You

Advent is a time to reflect on the first coming of Christ and his second coming. During this week, readers will reflect on their present lives in light of both comings, what has already been accomplished for them in Christ and what has not-yet been fully completed. Living in that already-not-yet tension is key to understanding the Christian life. Readers will discover and reflect on how they should live in this already-not-yet tension.
