What Is Generosity?Sample
God sees what people can’t see.
We talked about what generosity is, and we explored how we can be generous even with limited resources. But even more importantly, we have to know why we choose to be generous.
We could walk around being the most generous person on the planet, but if we do it with the wrong heart, we’re wasting our time. You could seriously pass out millions of dollars and still not honor God if you’re doing it for the wrong reasons. That seems kind of extreme, but like we’ve talked about, generosity isn’t about the money. It’s about our hearts.
So, if we just go around being generous to get applause or attention, then we’re not giving with the right heart. The bottom line is that we don’t give something to get something. We don’t give so that people will say, “Oh, she’s so generous!” or “Wow, did you see him serve that person in need?”
Instead, we give because we know it honors God. We give knowing that people may never see what we’re doing but God always sees it. And we give because we want to put others first and show others the love of Jesus.
When we give with pure hearts, some really amazing things can happen. Check out these stories of students who are making a difference in ways that no one sees.
God sees what people can’t see. So don’t give to get. We can give because God has been so generous to us that we can’t help but be generous to others.
