WOW, GOD. YOU GIVE US DIVINE APPOINTMENTS.

Experience

It sounds crazy, but there are over 7 billion people on this planet. 7 BILLION! That’s a lot of people! I believe that each person I come in contact with everyday is a divine appointment: planned and orchestrated by God. Why do I believe in divine appointments? Because there are 7 billion people on this planet, and I could meet any one of them at any time. I think of it like this: that small interaction I had with a stranger - it wasn’t just any stranger. It happened with a specific stranger, and it can never un-happen to either of us. Even people I work with aren’t a mistake. They have a purpose in my life and vice versa. 

The fact is, some people on the planet are in my life, and some aren’t, and sometimes I waste the time I get with others. The brief moment I had with them is gone. I don’t even think about it sometimes - that each person is a divine appointment. Exact people are in my life. Out of all 7 billion of us, God has chosen some of them to meet with me. 

Wow, God. You give us divine appointments.

Jesus had a divine appointment when He showed up for all people, all 7 billion. You have a divine appointment with the people you encounter everyday. “You are my God. You do such wonderful things! You planned them long ago, and now you have accomplished them, just as you said!” (Isaiah 25:1) God will accomplish everything He has planned, including the things He has planned for you. People are part of that plan. People are important to God, just as you are. Think about who you interact with everyday. How does realizing God put them in your life, change how you treat them?

Dear God, help me see the specific people You have put in my life. Open my eyes to realize that each interaction is Your divine appointment. Amen.
