Long Life And Prosperity (Happy Birthday)Sample

 An increase In Days 

Indeed, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and it is this wisdom that brings about long life. Often, I have heard it said that it is not how long you live but how well you live. This is a valid statement. Wouldn’t it be really great and a thing of honour if we were to live the years of our life to our full potential? 

But without the fear of the Lord and the wisdom that it births, we are wasting our time.

It is one thing for the world to sing your praises—to be full of accolades for you, to acknowledge your successes here on this earth; to celebrate you because you are living your life well and achieving everything in the right season and time. However, we must remember that not only are God’s times and seasons different from ours, so is His wisdom. 

The wisdom of man cannot prolong life, but the wisdom of God can. 

We learn a little about this when Hezekiah receives an increase to his time here on earth and his death sentence is temporarily suspended. His request to God is  fueled by the fear and wisdom of God.

The years that we have here on earth is an extended opportunity to declare the works of the Lord—to declare the glory of the Lord, to declare the counsel of the Lord in the land of the living. So, it makes sense that we would desire long life, to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to populate the kingdom of God here on earth and depopulate the kingdom of hell.

The Bible says that the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas. Another birthday means you have been granted an extended lease of life, which therefore, gives you an extended opportunity to proclaim the good news of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and sing the praises of God. 

So whilst the world celebrates you on your birthday, celebrate God for the extension of your life. This gives you the opportunity to increase your capacity in the things of God.

The fear of God is a holy, reverential fear. It is a fear that causes us, His children, to run to Him. Running towards what is fearful is not human wisdom, but Godly wisdom. We develop that fear (which brings about spiritual maturity) and increase in wisdom by spending time with God and in God.

Time to pray:

Dear Lord, we pray for Your wisdom today. We understand that the holy and reverential fear of You, O God, is the beginning of wisdom. Cause us to run towards You in love and reverential fear. Increase our days and years so that we may live to please you and to do more for the kingdom, to proclaim the gospel, and to live a life that pleases You.
