Take Your Place!

DAY 3 OF 7

Your Place of Safety

Just as your inheritance is still in place, so is your place in the body of Christ. The entire chapter of 1 Corinthians 12 talks about how the body of Christ is made up of many parts, and as a believer you are one of them. You are part of a body.

You were never meant to be alone. Humans are herd animals, designed to travel in packs.

It is important to understand that separating from the body, from your herd, makes you highly vulnerable to the devil. For example, getting mad at a pastor is a common problem that causes people to unwittingly fall right into Satan’s scheme. If the enemy can create strife between you and your Word-bringer (pastor), he has you right where he wants you.

The Bible tells us that Satan is like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Satan only has the power to devour when you give it to him. Remember that he is a defeated foe, and you have authority over him. So don’t permit him.

Satan is looking for someone whom he may devour. Often that is someone who is out of position, separated from the rest of the body. Often it is the person who is harboring an offense or hurt.

Think about a hungry lion in the wild, prowling in the tall grass behind a herd of antelope. What is that lion looking for? He’s looking for a lone antelope, one that has wandered off from the group. A lion rarely attacks an entire herd, but instead will pounce on the one off to the side, because it has left the safety of the group and is easier to pick off. Don’t let trouble or questions separate you from the body where God has placed you, or you may wind up on the side like the antelope that has wandered away from the herd.

You need to stay with your herd. It is where you’re safest. There is power in numbers, power in hearing the Word from a pastor every week, and power in the accountability for your life that follows. Whether you agree with everything your pastor says, you still need a shepherd, especially if you’re hurt or have questions. The church is where you are safe. Stay in your place!

About this Plan

Take Your Place!

There are times in life when you feel as though the bottom has fallen out – either because of something you’ve done, or something that’s happened to you. It’s easy to feel isolated or rejected, but God wants you to know that you have a place with Him and nothing can separate you from His love and plan for you. These seven devotionals can help you get back on track.
