God Is in the Multiplication BusinessSample
A Story of Multiplication
I have some wonderful friends, David and Marie, who obeyed the call of God on their lives. Once their kids were grown and out of the house, they moved to a reservation to minister to Native Americans.
God has greatly blessed David and Marie’s work, but their ministry hasn’t grown without sacrifice, and increase didn’t come overnight. They had to give up a lot, including their home. After several lean years it would have been easy for them to ask, “Why God, why?” After all, they had forsaken all in order to obey Him.
They did not give up. Neither did God. He had good plans in mind for them, just as He does for anyone who will believe and keep believing. I’ll let Marie tell you the rest of the story in her own words:
When we moved to the reservation, the housing prices were double what they had been in Boise. We felt that we would never be able to buy a home there unless God did something miraculous for us.
For the first ten years we lived in a six-hundred-square-foot apartment. I was very content to be there, but from time to time I would remind the Lord of His promise in Mark 10:29–30 that in this lifetime He would give back homes to those who had given up homes for Him. Through a series of amazing circumstances, we closed on our current home only thirty days after we were pre-qualified! We got one hundred percent financing, and it cost us only four hundred dollars to move in. The house even came full of furniture—beautiful stuff including dishes, silverware, pots and pans, a nice wool rug, and a table and chairs.
We are on a mountaintop with an acre that is wooded with ninety-foot-tall pine trees. This is my dream home that God laid up for me!
Maybe you’re facing financial challenges today. Maybe all you can see is red ink and no sign of multiplication in your future. Let me remind you that God is your source, and He is a good one. He won’t withhold any good thing from you. Don’t look only to natural sources for your provision. Keep your eyes on your God who multiplies!
