LOVE CAN

Nothing disarms the world like unconditional love. It’s what sets a Christ-follower apart from the rest of humanity. To love freely, without agenda, might be the only shocking act left on the planet. God’s love broke the chains of slavery for us, paid our debt, and set us free, and His commandment to us is to love others in the same way. So just how deep and wide is God’s love for us? Width seems like an odd unit by which to measure love, but look at it this way: if you began heading due north on foot, eventually you’d reach the North Pole (the 90° north latitudinal line) cross over it, and if you continued, would then be heading south. But east and west are different. If you head east and don’t change your course, you can make a complete circle—go the whole earth wide— and never end up facing west. That’s how far He took our sins away from us… how wide he loved us. He nailed our sin to the arms of the cross; His left hand to the east and His right hand to the west. Practice loving others with the shocking sincerity of what it means to lay down your life for them like Jesus laid His down for us.
