The Victories Of Christ For The Believer Sample

The Victories Of Christ For The Believer

DAY 6 OF 9

Victory Over the Bondage of Sin

The third pillar that we are going to see in this plan is the victory over the bondage of sin. We will learn three aspects: (1) co-crucifixion, meaning we were transferred from the kingdom of sin to the kingdom of Christ; (2) co-resurrection meaning with Christ we were transferred to Christ’s kingdom to live a victorious life; and (3) steps of victory we must take to experience that victorious life.

There are many believers in church who are tied to many sins. The Bible says that we have victory over death and over Satan, but we also can have victory over any sin that our flesh gets addicted to. This first aspect we can see in Romans Chapter 6.

Co-crucifixion with Christ

A. WE USED TO LIVE IN THE DOMAIN OF SIN

What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? This argument was mentioned by Paul, because he thought if grace is greater than all my sins, then let’s continue sinning so that grace increases. This logic is not biblical, but a thought that the Romans were applying to justify their lifestyle. Grace was never given with the intention to be a license to sin. Paul strongly refutes this erroneous idea. He believes the complete opposite: By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?

As we know, death means separation, thus, “we have died” means we have been separated from sin. Sin is the kingdom of evil, it’s a lifestyle characterized by lies, curse words, anger, assassinations, pornography, sex out of marriage, and other such things. When we were not Christians, that was not only the world we lived in, but the world that ruled us. When you live in a certain country, you are under the law or jurisdiction of that nation, thus, we are obligated to comply with that specific country’s laws, it’s not an option. In the same way, when we are in the kingdom of sin, we do not have the option to sin, we were obligated to sin because we were under its yoke. We make thousands of promises to stop sinning, but we could not comply because we were slaves.

The great news for us as Christians is that Christ on the cross not only gave us victory over Satan, but freed us. He took us out of the kingdom of evil and sin, so that sin could no longer obligate us to sin ever again. This is why in Christ we sin by choice, not obligation.

About this Plan

The Victories Of Christ For The Believer

In this nine-day devotional, we will emphasize the Victories of Christ in three core pillars: 1) victory over eternal death, 2) victory over Satan, and 3) victory over the slavery of sin. Many times we find ourselves trying to fight a battle that Christ already won on the cross; thus, it’s necessary to know the victory that He has given us.
