Counting The CostSample
LOVE, GRACE, AND MERCY:
Three gifts that God has given us really change everything… Love, Grace and Mercy. His love for us is truly unconditional! That means there is nothing we can do to earn or lose His love. He loves us because we are His creation and God does not create people who are worthless! Everyone matters to Him and nothing we do or don’t do changes that!
Because of His great love for us, He showers us with Grace and Mercy. Mercy is when we do not get what we deserve. The Bible explains that we are all sinners and because of our sin, we are separated from God and deserve death. However, God had another plan! He sent His Son Jesus to die on a cross and take the punishment for our sins. Jesus lived a perfect life and did not deserve death. We do not live perfect lives and we deserve the punishment. Because of God’s mercy, we do not receive the punishment we deserve. Instead, when we place our faith in Jesus Christ we have a relationship with God now on earth and for eternity!
Grace is when God gives us things that we do not deserve. We do not deserve a relationship with Him because of our sin, but instead He has given us love, acceptance and eternal life with Him. That is grace! Our sin causes pain and destruction in our life and in the lives of others, but because of His grace, He gives us life, purpose and restoration! Isn’t that amazing? So many things God freely gives to us just because He loves us!
Action Point:
God really does love you so very much. That can be difficult to comprehend at times. Read some Bible verses about God’s love for you. Believe His words! Read about the gifts of Grace and Mercy He has given you. These are life changing gifts!
Question(s):
Have you placed your faith in Jesus Christ and received God’s forgiveness and a relationship with Him? If so, when? If not, what are you waiting for?
Grace and Mercy are similar, but how are they different?
What do we deserve because of our sin? What do we get instead?
