A Moment With God

DAY 47 OF 61

GOD’S PERFECT TIMING

We wait in hope for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in You.

There is a time for everything. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says: There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. Although the process of waiting is challenging and painful, God’s timing is absolutely right for each one of us.

Why does God ask us to wait?

Why is His schedule never in sync with ours?

What do we do while we wait?

The Lord provides for us spiritually, physically and financially. He sustains us while we wait.

The Psalter always talks about putting our hope in God. The angel tells Mary (Luke 1:37) that nothing is impossible with God.

Waiting has benefits.

  • When we wait, it brings us to Submission. Our soul waits on the Lord. He does not become our last resort.
  • It brings Stability. We begin to rely on God and wait for His perfect timing.
  • It keeps us in prayer and in fellowship
  • Waiting builds up our Strength; the crosses that we go through build our character and refine us.

When we wait on the Lord, we don’t wait non-expectantly or for the sake of waiting. Knowing the character of the Lord and experiencing His touch and deliverance in the past makes our wait enjoyable and fruitful.

Waiting is nothing but waiting for His timing. Waiting = Wait + Timing

The Lord acts taking into account everything. When he answers, we not only rejoice that He has answered, but we are confident that it is from the Lord and it is the best for us.

The thing we need to understand about God’s timing is that it is perfect, just as all of God’s ways are perfect (Psalm 18:30; Galatians 4:4). God’s timing is never early, and it’s never been late. In fact, from before our birth until the moment we take our last earthly breath, our sovereign God is accomplishing His divine purposes in our lifetimes. He is in complete control of everything and everyone from everlasting to everlasting.

Another key to understanding God’s timing is trust. In fact, our ability to wait on the Lord is largely related to how much we trust Him. When we trust in God with all of our heart, foregoing reliance on our own, often erroneous understanding of circumstances, He will indeed give us direction.

Peace comes to us through understanding of God’s timing and provision comes through His perfect timing.
