Thanks again for continuing our challenge of 1,000,000 chapters.  The next letter you’re about to read is Titus. It’s a letter written by Paul to a Greek named Titus.  The book primarily focuses on the idea of passing the baton of leadership; as one church leader leaves leadership for one reason or another, what should be done to appoint the next person in line?

There’s a point in our lives where we all have to get a job, move out, start paying bills, and start becoming an adult.  It’s an experience that can be challenging and change the overall perspective our lives themselves.  Many of these encounters we have for the first time, and it all happens so fast.  We’re not sure the best place to buy groceries, how much is a normal rate to pay for electricity, or how fast you need your internet to be.  Though this process can be hard and tedious it almost always helps to have someone helping you along the way with all the information you need.

Titus was one of Paul’s companions who had over the years been slowly developed into becoming a more positive and influential Christian leader.  Paul was a Greek leader who, as explained in Galatians, proved to be the perfect example of what God was doing among those who didn’t believe.  Eventually due to his strong Christian leadership, Titus is given the ability to lead the churches on the island of Crete.  The time and care that went into Paul’s investment in Titus is evident in the letter, and is a great example of what early mentorship in the church looked like.

As you read think about what God might be calling you to next through some of the challenges that Paul gives to Titus.  Pray that God can continue to allow you to see the many possibilities in your own personal development.
