1,000,000 Chapters – Part 5Sample
Many people have a desire to meet someone famous. Whether it’s a famous football star, an actor an actress, or a country music legend, we all have a tendency to imagine what it would be like to eventually be face-to-face with the person that we think so much of. If only we had to meet them, maybe then I could be that much closer to being as cool as they are. If I just continue to imagine them, could I eventually be like them?
The same can be said of the way that Jesus is described. The Bible is filled with wonderful stories of Jesus the Messiah coming to save the people of Earth. Jesus is the Son of God, performed many miracles here on Earth, and ascended into Heaven. Though we may be familiar with this idea, a lesser known fact is that Jesus was spoken about in the Old Testament, hundreds of years before he was born. The Bible talks about a messiah that will one day come to save us all, and bring peace to those who worship him.
Today and for the rest of this plan we’re going to be reading a different Psalm every day. We will start with Psalm 45. And in this Psalm we get a sense of this early portrayal of who Jesus will be. The psalm writer goes into great detail of the qualities of their King. They paint him as a source of grace, a person of righteousness, and a bringer of justice. He is someone of great power, but at the same time is clearly the Prince of Peace. He is spoken as someone who is victorious in his mission, and defeats his enemies. This psalm along with many other parts of the Old Testament had people eager and excited to meet the man who they would eventually call their King.
As you read this chapter, begin to ask yourself what it would take to imagine Jesus in the way that Psalm 45 describes him. What would we understand better about his character? How does this affect our current view of Jesus? Try to continue to see how God is continually challenging you to change the traditional way that you may be viewing God through this chapter from the Old Testament.

About this Plan
This is the fifth part of Parkview Christian Church’s series to read through 1,000,000 chapters of the Bible together. There is nothing that equips or invites the Church to live like Jesus more than reading the Bible. The pages of the Bible capture God’s story and lead those who dare to read it to live out His story for today. That’s why Parkview is making the challenge to our church to collectively read 1,000,000 chapters of the Bible together. Will you join us on the journey?
