SHE 31 - Woman Of ValourSample
Read: Proverbs 31 in another translation to gain a deeper understanding and a new perspective on the passage
The Proverbs 31 woman is no difference from us. Yes, we live in different times and there are thousands of years between us, but we share many similarities. We are women, we are mothers, we are daughters, we are wives, we are servants (volunteers), we are workers. We have access to many of the same resources as her - and that includes the gift of time.
Consider: How do you spend your time?
Our Proverbs 31 woman uses her time well. There’s nothing lazy about her. She gets up early and plans for the day ahead, she leaves the house to make investments, she is full of energy and works hard. She manages her money well and is able to keep a lamp burning late into the night. She makes her own linen and sells clothes to businesses. This woman manages her time well and squeezes out every last minute of the day. She’s not wasteful or sloth-like. She honours the time she has and uses it wisely.
Context: Why bother?
Time is one of the greatest gifts that we have. We can use it wisely or wastefully. We can spend it well or let it slip through our fingers without a thought.
Each day we are given 24 hours to use. That’s 1440 minutes. Or 86,400 seconds. Once they’re gone they’re gone and we can’t get them back. How do you spent yours?
Hear me right, rest is also important. God rested and so should we. Rest isn’t laziness or procrastination - it’s a Biblical principle. So rest should be planned into our weeks just like everything else.
Over to you: Ask yourself…..
- Do you see time as a resource and a gift from God?
- How do you spend your time? Do you steward it well or are you wasteful with it?
- Rest is a Biblical principle. Where is your weekly Sabbath and how do you protect it?
- Ask the Holy Spirit to show you any attitudes towards time and rest that you need to change

About this Plan
Whilst the Proverbs 31 woman can so easily be seen as an intimidating list of characteristics we can’t measure up to, we believe that it an inspiration of all that God celebrates in His daughters. A woman not only to be revered but also celebrated and imitated. This plan is the overflow of Freedom Church's women's' ministry SHE.
