Can You See It? 

Our story today is found in Luke 10:25-37. It's the story of The Good Samaritan. What does it mean to love others the way God loves us? Let’s find out.

Someone asked Jesus, “Who is my neighbor?” Jesus explained by telling a story. He did that a lot. Jesus was a good storyteller. 

He began, “A young man was traveling down the road from Jerusalem to Jericho and was attacked by a gang of bad men who beat him up, stole all his money, everything he owned and left him for half-dead on the side of the road. A priest walked by, and seeing the man went to the other side of the street.” Certainly that man was not compassionate. 

Jesus continued, “A Levite, a religious leader, also passed by the man, and he too crossed to the other side.” Wow, really? You probably know what happened next. A Samaritan, someone whom the Jews looked down on, saw the injured man and do you know what he did? He showed compassion by helping care for him. He cleaned and bandaged his wounds, put the man on his own donkey, took him to an Inn and asked the innkeeper to continue caring for him until he was all better. The Samaritan said, “Here are some silver coins to cover the expenses, and if it costs more, I will pay you back when I return this way.” 

Do you know how Jesus finished the story? He said, “Now go and do the same.” 

Can You Do It? 

Love like Jesus loves, sacrificially.

Love with our actions, not just our words. 

Love Jesus with all your heart and ask his Holy Spirit to love others through you.

Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for loving me and making me one of your children. Help me love and obey you. Help me love others the way you love me.
