Day Six
The Science of Color
The diversity of humanity is a reflection of God’s glory. Some people don’t study their personality or strengths because they don’t want to be labeled or placed in a box. While personality tools can be used that way, they can also be very helpful for personal growth and self-awareness. You can’t see your whole body without a mirror and these tools act as a mirror to our personalities, quirks, and unique identities.
Strengths, spiritual gifts, and personality descriptions are like colors; your personality type may be blue, but there are a million shades of blue, and each one is beautiful and unique in its own way. Artists study the science of color in order to make their masterpieces more beautiful, expressive and unique. Each color has a role, an assignment in the earth: the sky is blue, trees are green (except in the fall!), clown fish will always be orange, and so will oranges. Even in these broad statements, there are still brilliant hues of color that we imagine when we picture each of these objects.
Like an artist studies color, it’s valuable to study what exactly God has placed inside of you. Your unique traits, your bold passions, your distinct personality are all indicators of the irreplaceable calling God has put on your life. Take time to learn your spiritual gifts, talents, strengths, skills, and personality as these are clues to why God has placed you on this earth. Strike out in boldness knowing that you cannot be replaced; there has never been anyone like you on the planet, and there never will be.
