Day 2- Bride of Christ
Before Christ, we were bound in a union to the law of sin and death, but through the Cross, we are freed forever from that enslaving union to the law. However, it doesn’t end there, Christ did not just bring us out and leave us exposed. He brought us into union and oneness with Himself, presenting to us all the benefits of His exalted position. As a result of this union, we are not available to the enemy or his plans to ensnare or enslave us again.
Also in this union, we are joined to Him through His Holy Spirit whom we received at salvation.
Ephesians 1:13: "In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise."
1 Corinthians 16:19-20: "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.”
The Bible is about the union between divinity and humanity. In Genesis, Eve was prepared for Adam but in our union with Christ, He, the groom prepares the bride and presents the bride, the Church to Himself.
Ephesians 5:26-27: "That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish."
In Genesis, the bride was created from sleep, in the union between Christ and the Church, we the Church are resurrected with Him from death. Our life with Christ is our eternal union with Him.
1 Peter 1:3: "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead."
