21 Days in the Book of JohnExemplo

21 Days in the Book of John

Dia 20 de 21

Jesus has been raised from the dead! The most amazing event in all of history. The Resurrection is the foundation for eternal life, which is promised to all who believe!

Here are a few things I’d like to point out about Chapter 20:

  1. Mary Magdalene was the first person to discover the empty tomb. This was the same woman who had 7 demons cast out of her. She had been an immoral woman until she met Jesus and her life was forever changed. The other gospels tell us that there were 3 women with Mary, but apparently, Mary was anxious and ran ahead. When she discovered the missing body, she thought someone had stolen it. She had no idea what was about to be revealed!
  2. John and Peter heard about the empty tomb and ran to it. They discovered an empty shell of the cloths used to wrap Jesus. John immediately believed (he was the only one who truly believed without seeing) but neither fully understood the meaning of what happened. Jesus would later appear to them and ten of the disciples. On that same day, He also showed Himself to Mary Magdalene, the other women, two people on the road to Emmaus, and Peter while he was alone. Jesus breathed on the disciples and gave them a new life, just as God breathed into Adam in the Garden of Eden. They did not receive the full power of the Holy Spirit yet, which would happen at Pentecost.
  3. Verse 31 sums up the entire purpose of John’s gospel: “that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name”. There are many examples of people with saving faith throughout this book, but Thomas was the most evident. He demonstrates how someone can go from unbelief to belief and also how Jesus is willing to do whatever it takes to show you who He is.

21 Days in the Book of John

John sets the foundation for understanding the Trinity and shows how Jesus is God. The purpose of John’s message was made abundantly clear when he wrote, “These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.” Join me as we read one chapter a day and learn about the deity of Jesus Christ!
