Promises for the JourneyExemplo
God Really, Really Loves You
One thing that leaps off the pages of scripture as you read them is how much God loves you. The Bible declares that God loves you and his very nature is love. That means that if you were to examine God’s DNA, love would be the imprint because that is who he is. Every action God takes toward you is born out of his love for you.
The challenge to understanding God’s love is that life happens, and when it does, it can cause you to forget or even question the reality of God’s love for you.
- Have you ever felt distant or separated from God’s love?
- Has life ever hit you so hard that it caused you to question if God loves you?
- Have you ever messed up so badly or made such poor decisions that you wondered if God could ever love you again?
Even if you can answer yes to these questions, and I can answer yes to all three, it doesn’t negate God’s love for you. Remember, love is not something God does; it is who he is.
One of the outstanding characteristics of God’s love is that it is unconditional. That means you can’t earn it, but it also means you can’t “un-earn” it.
Romans 5:8 reminds us,
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
If God could love you when you were in your worst state and condition, when you weren’t even thinking or caring about him, when you were living your life and doing your own thing with no care or consideration for who God is, surely, he loves you now.
Here are two scriptures that are reminders of God’s great love for you.
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? ... For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:35, 38-39
As you go through your day today, I want you to live it knowing God loves you, and that will never change because that is who he is.
Affirmation - I am loved by God unconditionally, and nothing can separate me from his love.
