Advent: The Hope of ChristmasExemplo
Do Not Fear (Mary)
“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” - Luke 1:34
Mary was a young lady when the angel first appeared to her. I can only imagine the fear and nervousness that she had. I can only imagine what she must have felt to have the weight of the world on her. Fear and nervousness would have been natural. And then, we see this moment where the angel reassures her.
Luke 1:30 says, “But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God.”
Do not be afraid. I don’t know about you but when someone tells me not to be afraid, I'm afraid. But Mary doesn’t. She listens to the Angel speaks. She asks questions. And then she ends it with, “I am the Lord servant.” May what you say come to pass through me.”
In this season of life,in this pandemic, and political changes, may we be more like Mary. Instead in responding in fear, may we respond in obedience to His word. Scriptures tell us over 365 times do not fear. That is the exact number of days in a year to be reminded to not be fearful!
Mary's response should be our response. Simple obedience and trust in the Lord that He knows what He’s doing.
