Advent: The Hope of ChristmasExemplo
God calls the Qualified
Often when we look at genealogy lines, it could be boring. I mean who wants to take time to read a list of names? But let's take a closer look at them.
When we examine Matthew’s genealogy, we see people who would never have known to be part of a special line that would bring Jesus. Matthew lists four mothers in a long line of fathers and sons: Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheba. Tamar hid as a prostitute and slept with her father-in-law. Rahab was a prostitute . Ruth is a widow and a foreigner. And Bathsheba was the subject of a scandal involving adultery and murder by King David himself.
We can look at that list and immediately think, they’re not qualified! We can list a bunch of reasons where they rebelled or had sin in their lives.. But here’s the fact: God uses them and all people to bring glory to His kingdom. God used these women to eventually bring us Jesus.
Maybe this has been a season of waiting and seeking. Maybe you felt the calling of the Holy Spirit urging you to do something, but you felt unqualified.
May I urge you to remember that God can use those who simply let Him. Who will say yes to His will? Who will simply take the step of faith? I encourage you to take the time this season to ask the Lord what He’s asking of you and your family to do.
Isaiah 6: 8 says, “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
God calls the qualified.
