Living in God’s Presence

When Joshua was about to take over leadership from Moses, God was there to encourage him. God makes it possible for His children to go into each new day fearlessly and confidently because they know that God is with them. They know they will be able to rely on His wisdom and help in the day ahead, communicate with Him moment by moment and be aware of and obey the voice of the Holy Spirit.

“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” God says in the words of Psalm 46:10 (NKJV). And then the psalmist himself gives further testimony in verse 11: “The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.”

We often leave other people in the lurch. Virtually all of us have at some point been let down by someone. After all, everyone is by nature sinful, selfish and arrogant. We remain more important to ourselves than to other people. God, however, is radically different from us. He is absolutely trustworthy in His promise to never abandon His children. When He tells us that He will never leave us, we can be sure that this is so. This is why we can live without fear, because we have God as our Helper.

Sit in silence for a while and consider what your faith means to you: God is with you today and you have His promise that He will never abandon you. Because you believe in Him, you can be sure of His presence and protection every day of your life.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I praise You because I can count on Your presence in my life today. I can be sure that You are with me—that You will help me and never leave me or desert me. Amen.
