[Life of David] Dying Done: Bucket List CheckedPrzykład
Last Words
What will your last words be? What advice do you want to leave for your children, your grandchildren, your nieces and nephews, for the next generation? We should serve God’s purposes for our lives in our generation, but we can still leave wisdom and a godly testimony for the next generations.
David’s words for his son Solomon, some of his last words, were full of advice and wisdom. They still continue to bless and serve God’s purposes after many generations.
David told Solomon to know and serve the Lord. This answers the question many of us have asked many times in our lives: “How do we find God’s purposes for our life?” What’s the advice? Know and serve the Lord. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, teachers, coaches, friends, what do you tell kids? Know and serve the Lord. If you will know and serve the Lord, God’s purposes will find you. If you do not want to know and serve the Lord, then God’s purposes will not find you. He does not waste His purposes on somebody who does not want to know or serve Him. God will not get diamonds and throw them to the ground, or put pearls before swine. He will give His treasure to those who trust Him and want to know and serve Him.
David tells Solomon to be strong and courageous and to take decisive action. We need to stand up, rise up and walk with God. If we do this, we will never lack the lineage of David on the throne of Israel, because Jesus Christ was of the lineage of David, and we are in Christ. Jesus is the eternal King on the throne forever. This is something incredible to think about.
David also told Solomon to keep a whole heart, an undivided heart to follow the commands of the Lord. David was a man after God’s own heart. He knew what he was talking about when he said that. Finally, David tells Solomon to get wisdom and insight. David wrote a lot about wisdom and insight in the Bible. All of these things will help Solomon fulfill God’s purpose in his life. They can help us too.
I pray that you fall in love with the Lord, and as you fall in love with Him, you get to know and serve Him. I pray that you will be strong and courageous, have a whole heart for Him, that wisdom will surround you, and that His purpose will find you!

O tym planie
The bucket list that satisfies the heart is fulfilling the purposes of God. As we fall in love with Him, seek to know Him, and remain faithful to Him, His purposes will find us. From that space, we can die “done” with a bucket list checked off and a life fulfilled.
