Seven Days of Being a Woman Up LeaderPrzykład
DAY 5: Shift the Altitude and Attitude
Have you ever met someone who brightens up a room just by walking into it? My daughter-in-law, Caroline, is one of those people. She can step into an environment and no matter how you are feeling, or what happened that day, the whole room is lifted with joy and laughter.
I like to talk to our staff a lot about not being a thermometer, but a thermostat. Thermometers simply take the temperature of an environment that is already set. They can’t change what the temperature is, they can’t improve it, they can only read it.
So many of us live our lives this way as leaders. We walk into a room, and all we do is read the temperature. If everybody in the room is negative, then we are negative. If everybody in the room is angry, then we are angry. However, we are called as Christ followers, and as leaders, to be a thermostat. You can walk into a room and SET the temperature. You can walk into a room full of sadness and bring the hope and joy of the Lord. You can walk into a room full of hostility and bitterness and bring healing and peace.
Deborah walked into a nation full of fear as Barak and the Israelites were scared for their lives, and infused security and strength into them.
Today, let God meet you in your leadership. Ask Him to give you the strength to be a thermostat for your sphere of influence. It’s time to set the temperature, and Woman Up!
