7-Day Devotional: Torn Between Two Worlds – Embracing God’s Gifts Amid Unmet Longings

DAY 4 OF 7

Day 4: Trusting God’s Timing

Scripture: Isaiah 55:8-9
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."

One of the most difficult aspects of walking in faith is trusting God’s timing, especially when our desires remain unmet. We want answers now. We want healing now. But God’s ways and timing are higher than ours. The tension we feel between our longing and God's timing is real, but it is in this tension that our faith is deepened.

The story of Abraham and Sarah (Genesis 17-18) is a powerful example of God’s timing. God promised Abraham that he would be the father of many nations, yet years passed, and Sarah remained barren. Despite their impatience, God’s promise came to pass when it was humanly impossible, demonstrating that God’s timing is always perfect. Like Abraham and Sarah, we must learn to trust that God knows what is best for us and that His plans will unfold in His perfect time.

Prayer:
Lord, I confess that waiting on Your timing is hard. I often feel torn between my desires and the reality of the present. Help me to trust that Your ways are higher than mine and that Your timing is perfect. Give me patience and faith as I wait for Your promises to unfold. Thank You for Your faithfulness and for teaching me to rely on Your wisdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
