Day 16: Holding Onto a Word
The story of King Hezekiah is a powerful reminder of the importance of holding onto a word from God. When Hezekiah became gravely ill, the prophet Isaiah brought him a devastating message: “Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover” (2 Kings 20:1). But instead of resigning himself to this fate, Hezekiah turned his face to the wall, wept before the Lord, and prayed earnestly.
God heard Hezekiah’s prayer and responded with a new word: “I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now, you will go up to the temple of the Lord” (2 Kings 20:5). God not only healed him but added fifteen years to his life.
This story reminds us of the power of holding onto God’s word, even when circumstances seem hopeless. Hezekiah didn’t rely on his strength or the opinions of others—he placed his faith in God’s promises.
What word has God spoken over your life? Maybe it’s a Scripture He’s highlighted to you, a promise you’ve been praying over, or a dream He’s placed in your heart. Write it down and hold onto it. Even when circumstances seem to contradict it, trust that God is faithful to fulfill His word.
Pray today: “Lord, I thank You for the promises You’ve spoken over my life. Help me to trust Your word, even when my circumstances feel overwhelming. I know You are faithful, and I place my hope in You.”
When we hold onto a word from God, we anchor our faith in His character. His promises never fail.

About this Plan
Over the next 21 days, we are setting aside time to seek God intentionally—through fasting, prayer, and giving. Matthew 6 reminds us that these three practices draw us closer to the heart of God and position us to experience His faithfulness in extraordinary ways. Each day, we'll be walking with you through stories from Scripture, personal reflections, and encouragement for this journey. Take time to reflect, pray, and let God speak to you. We're believing that as we lean into this together, He will do above and beyond all we could ask or imagine.
