EquipHer Vol. 9: "The Power of a Simple 'Yes' or 'No'"Sample
Day 3: The Value of Your Time
One of the most impactful lessons Pastor Wendy Perez and Carrie Pasch - Founders of EquipHer Movement - shared during a recent Instagram Live session, was the importance of valuing our time. Each decision we make affects our time and, ultimately, our ability to live according to our purpose.
Through this Live Session, Carrie Pasch shared how, in the early years of her career, she often said “Yes” to every opportunity or potential client that came her way. At first, this seemed like the right move—every new proposal appeared to be a chance to grow the business. However, over time, she learned a vital lesson: every “Yes” comes with an automatic “No” to something else. Each decision carries weight, influencing how we allocate our time and resources and how aligned we remain with our greater goal.
In business, when faced with an invitation or opportunity, it’s crucial to ask ourselves, “Is this truly aligned with my long-term goals? Is this the best use of my time and resources?” Developing this intentional approach to decision-making is key. Far too often, saying “Yes” to something can mean sacrificing something more closely aligned with our values and purpose.
Recognizing this reality helps us understand that our time is a precious, limited resource. Every choice we make has an impact, and being intentional about where we invest our time can mean the difference between living in alignment with our purpose or scattering our energy on tasks that don’t contribute to it.
Ephesians 5:15-16 affirms: “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” Each day is an opportunity we cannot afford to waste. Choosing intentionally where we spend our time is one of the most pivotal decisions we can make.
Reflection Questions:
- How can I better recognize when an opportunity aligns with my goals?
- What steps can I take to make wiser decisions regarding my time and priorities?
Prayer:
Lord, help me to see the value of my time and to use it for You and Your kingdom. Guide me in making decisions that honor the purpose and mission You have designed me so that my choices always reflect alignment with Your will. Amen.
