Reign

DAY 25 OF 30

I wish God would speak to me! How often have you had that thought? It’s common to read the Bible, with its record of divine encounters, and long to be Moses or Elijah or Peter. They experienced powerful moments with God, witnessed miracles and signs, and played a part in God’s big story. But that was then, and this is now, we think. But that’s not what God tells us in His Word! God is still active in this world. He still speaks to His people. He still performs miracles. And His big story is still unfolding. Not only that, but He has called us to be a part of it. The problem is too many of us get bogged down with what’s going on right now and the plans we have for the future. Because of that, we don’t take time to actively seek Him.

We assume (wrongly) that if God wants us, He’ll let us know. Well, He did—in His Word! We have this promise in the book of James: “Come near to God, and he will come near to you” (James 4:8). The prophet Jeremiah, writing some six hundred years earlier, recorded this promise from God: “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13). Seek God with all of your heart. Make knowing Him a priority in your life. You were made for life with Him!

About this Plan

Reign

History tells many stories of drama regarding kings and queens. This governmental system of power and our fascination with it has existed throughout history—even in Biblical times. In this devotional, we’re going to take a closer look at some of the reigns of the kings who ruled over God’s people and what we can learn from the lives and reigns of the people who led God’s people over the centuries.
