Marriage & Family

DAY 3 OF 7

Let's go nuclear

Although it’s not the case for all, most at some time will find themselves living in what is referred to as a nuclear family. The label ‘nuclear family’ refers to the core members of a family, usually parents and children and derives from the word nucleus, meaning ‘kernel’ and referring to the core of something. Nuclear had a long history of figurative use before its main association with ‘nuclear energy’. It’s ironic to me that the humble family household has nuclear connotations, as I believe that a God-centred family household is one of the most powerful forces on the planet.

God created us to become a part of His family, but it’s also His plan to impart His power through our families. Godly families powerfully change the people in them and around them who then in turn change the people in families around them, changing society and potentially the whole world. You might even call it a ‘chain reaction’. Pretty epic for old Mum, Dad, and their 2.4 kids.

But even more importantly, it has the power to create generational change. How many times have you heard testimonies of believers who experienced extremely godless households growing up who at some point decided to apply the above scripture to their ‘household’ and now you see them, their children and their grandchildren, or even great-grandchildren doing the same. There’s no doubt a single choice by one can create generational change affecting many into the future. If you haven’t already, do it today. Decide to break the generational cycle and serve the Lord in your household. One decision can be so powerful and with God you can be a part of making powerful change for generations to come.
