Jesus, Name Above All Namesਨਮੂਨਾ

Son of the Most High
“He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to Him the throne of His father David.” (Luke 1:32)
The angel who announced the birth of Jesus also described the role Jesus would play. Jesus would be “great” in the sense that He would be the Most High in the Kingdom of God. The word Most High is found in the Old Testament as a title for God (Genesis 14:18-22). Jesus is the Son of God who is the Creator of heaven and earth. The God who rules heaven and earth and has the greatest power and might, the Only One capable of doing all as He wills and imagines.
The name “Son of the Most High” is a complementary title for Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah. By earthly birth, Jesus was a descendant of David. But Jesus' kingship and reign would extend much further and last forever. Through all the brokenness we face today, Jesus is our King. We may look forward to the day when this promise will be fulfilled: The day when King Jesus, Son of the Most High, will return and his kingdom of peace will break forth forever.
How does it give you hope that all earthly powers will pass away?
Jesus, I worship You as the Son of the Most High God. You have all power and to You I entrust my life.
About this Plan

Jesus' earthly parents did not have to wonder over the Name they would give to the Child Mary was expecting. God Himself told them what they should name this Child: Jesus. But He bore other names as well. This reading plan helps you discover what Jesus' names reveal about Himself.
