Connecting With God | Dive DeeperSample
Week 2 | Hearing God
Day One
Spend some time in prayer before you begin. Tell God you are listening and ask Him to speak to you.
- Read John 10:2-4 again but this time try reading it in a different version than you did before, look up the definitions of words you don’t know, summarize what the passage is saying in your own words.
- Do some research, who wrote the book of John? When was it written? To whom was it written? What genre of writing is it (Historical narrative, poetry, wisdom literature, law, prophesy, parables, epistles)? Why is all of this important?
- Do you think this passage teaches us about God’s creation, man’s sin, God’s redemption of man, or God’s restoration of man to Himself? It can be more than one. Why is it important to think about this?
- How does knowing God calls you by name change how you view Him? Why are we compared to sheep and Jesus a Shepherd here?
- Are you listening to His voice as one of His sheep?
- Spend some time in prayer as you close, ask God to help you listen for His voice calling you. Take some time to just listen for God’s voice. It is okay if you don’t hear His voice audibly, that doesn’t mean He isn’t speaking.
