What Jesus Said About Prayer

DAY 4 OF 7

The Believer's Access to the Throne of God

So often, people ask: "Am I good enough? Will God listen to me? I am just an ordinary person. I do not pray well. I am afraid of God." The following passages will give you confidence when you approach God in prayer.

·On the basis of God's invitation, So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There, we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most (Hebrews 4:16).

·On the basis of the promises, For all of God's promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding 'Yes!' (2 Corinthians 1:20).

·On the basis of the cross and the blood, We can boldly enter heaven's Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. By His death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place (Hebrews 10:19-22).

·On the basis of God's character, God is not a man, so He does not lie. He is not human, so He does not change His mind. Has He ever spoken and failed to act? Has He ever promised and not carried it through? (Numbers 23:19).

·On the basis of our priestly function, He has made us a Kingdom of priests for God His Father. All glory and power to Him forever and ever! Amen. (Revelation 1:6).

·Based on the name of Jesus, you can ask for anything in My name, and I will do it so that the Son can bring glory to the Father (John 14:13- 14).

Practical obedience: Do you know of any sin in your life right now? Take time to confess it and then read the Scriptures above.

Question: Is there something in your life that you feel that hinders you from praying? Is it perhaps something that you can discuss in your group? If it is something very sensitive, it is probably best to find a trustworthy and mature believer to discuss it and pray about it.
