Love Like Jesus

Do you truly love others like Jesus loves them? Are you willing to offer forgiveness and grace to those who have failed you? Are you open to reconciliation when offenders demonstrate genuine remorse?

In his letter, John urged all followers of Jesus to be inspired by the Lord’s great love for them (1 John 3:16). John reminded believers that God had adopted them as his very own children, and he encouraged them to pursue purity and avoid habitual sin. He then discussed the importance of loving our brothers and sisters in Christ. For Christ demonstrated real love when he gave up his life for those who would receive him.

Therefore, when believers see someone in need, they are to demonstrate godly love by helping the person out. For actions always speak louder than words.

Reflect: Meditate on Jesus’ commandment in John 13:34 and describe how you will courageously and faithfully extend love like Jesus today.

Pray: Father, you command me to love like you do, without any conditions. Help me let go of any obstacles that keep me from expressing genuine and godly love and give me wisdom and discernment to know if and when I should reconcile with people who have offended or mistreated me.
