The Life of Davidਨਮੂਨਾ

Day 6: 1 Sam. 13 x Justus Tams, Levite at UPPERROOM
There is a conclusion I came to a long time ago: God’s ways are mysterious and perfect. In 1 Samuel 13, Saul doesn’t seek out the favor of the Lord in battle. He takes matters into his own hands by forcing a burnt offering. In doing this, Saul had disobeyed the command of the Lord. The Lord desired to establish the line of Saul forever, but his disobedience led the Lord to strip the kingdom from him forever, for the Lord had found favor in a shepherd boy. He was a man after God’s own heart. He was one who would seek out the favor of the Lord in everything. The Father searched for a man who would be the prominent descendant of His Son. He found David. The fruit that Saul bore was a microcosm of Israel’s national rebellion and rejection of God. The fruit that David bore was a type and shadow of the coming Messiah. For the life of the Messiah would be a life of devotion and obedience to the Father. The Son would only do what He saw His Father doing. Jesus Incarnate, the Son of David, was after the Father’s own heart. Through Jesus, the kingdom of David is established forever.
Prayer: Jesus, I thank You. You are the Son of David who desires to show mercy. As David said of You, Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of Your kingdom. I thank You for coming at the right time. I come under Your Lordship. Holy Spirit, form Christ in me. May I be one after God’s own heart. I love You, Lord. In Jesus' name, amen.
