How to Stop Watching PornSample
Who Will You Become?
Imagine yourself ten years from now. What might your life look like if you never found freedom from porn?
Do you think you’d have stronger relationships with others, greater intimacy with God, and increased peace of mind? If you’re like most people, then probably not.
God equally loves this imaginary version of you. But imaginary you is also likely to be more relationally distant, unsatisfied, and less effective in pursuing Jesus’ others-focused way of life.
But this doesn’t have to be you.
Now imagine yourself in ten years again. What would your life look like if you did find lasting freedom from porn?
Do you think you’d have stronger relationships with others, greater intimacy with God, and increased peace of mind? Probably.
This potential version of you consistently:
- shared deep struggles with others.
- refused to allow temporary pleasures to steal lasting joy.
- created habits to avoid temptation.
- took God-given escape routes from sin.
This version of you is now chasing Jesus with fewer distractions. Of course, there were likely a few mistakes over the past decade. But after each failure, there was confession of sin to God and others, reaching out for help, and continued pursuit of healing.
Both of these versions of you are possible. Only you can decide which will be true for you, one day at a time—and one moment at a time. So imagine who you want to become, then start taking steps toward freedom from porn.
It won’t be easy, but it’s always worth it. Keep seeking Jesus every day, and don’t fight porn alone.
Pray: Dear God, thank You for loving me and leading me toward healing and freedom. I know I have a long way to go, but I also know that You’re with me every step of the way. Please help me consistently seek You and seek help from others as I pursue purity. In Jesus’ name, amen.
