Tough Questions… Jesus’ AnswersSample
Can You Ever Drift Too Far?
One of my favorite parables of Jesus is the Parable of the Prodigal Son, found in Luke 15. Why? Well, before I met Jesus I was living like a prodigal—deep down I knew the truth about God and my parents loved me, but I wanted to do my own thing.
At 19 years old, I went through a very difficult season that left me confused and empty. I began pondering, “What am I doing in life? Why am I here? I don’t want to keep living this way!” Maybe you can relate to being a prodigal, too.
After prematurely taking his inheritance and wasting it all on wild living, the prodigal son in Luke 15 lands in a messy, unclean place—feeding hogs while starving. He is empty and alone. Ever been there? You see, difficulties come when we live life on our own terms—outside of God’s design.
My friend, we are created to find our ultimate fulfillment in a relationship with God. The things we desire the most—love, joy, and peace—can only truly be found in a loving relationship with our Heavenly Father. The Good News is—no matter where you’ve been or what you’ve done, God’s love, joy, and peace are still there waiting for you.
As you engage with God’s word:
● What is God saying to you?
● What does it mean to you?
● What action step do you need to take?
After you reflect on these questions, bring everything to God in prayer. Also, if you’re looking for more faith-building resources like this, I want to personally invite you to sign up for my weekly devotional email today!
