Pause: A Month of Prayer in Five Minutes a DaySample
Proclaim
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Phil. 4:6)
Prompt
There’s an old saying that goes something like this: the best time to plant a tree was 100 years ago. The next-best time is now.
I often feel the same way about prayer.
It’s easy to despair about past mistakes, but we can’t do anything about the trees we didn’t plant last century or the prayers we didn’t pray yesterday. All we can do is look at the soil before us and the seed in our hands and then kneel and plant.
So kneel down and pray. There’s no better time than now. There’s no better day to start than today!
Prod
Don’t spend another second worrying about the prayers you didn’t pray. Make time to pray right now.

Pray
Jesus, thank you for hearing me when I pray. Thank you for not holding my past against me and lifting all the regrets from my shoulders. Meet me here in this soil as I plant this prayer. I commit this day to you. Amen.
Thank you so much for going on this month-long journey of prayer with me! If you found this helpful, you can spend a full year digging into joy, prayer, peace, and gratitude with Pause: A Year of Hope in Five Minutes a Day, which you can learn more about here.

About this Plan
Depression. Loneliness. Comparison. Greed. Addiction. People-pleasing. These are tools of the enemy to steal your calling and rob your joy. In this reading plan, drawn from his book, Lance Lang invites you to neutralize those tools by pausing each day, studying scripture, reading encouragement, taking action, and refocusing your attention on Jesus. Press forward into what God has for you. Press pause.
