Pause: A Month of Prayer in Five Minutes a DaySample
Proclaim
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Phil. 4:6)
Prompt
For years, I spent an hour every Sunday night asking God about whatever was in my world for the next day, week, or month. I would follow the instruction of Jesus found in Matthew 7 and would ask, seek, and knock for specific things. Moments, milestones, miracles… you name it.
The point was to be super-intentional about my prayer time, even to the point of keeping a whiteboard near my bed, writing out all this stuff, and updating it every Sunday night.
Do you know what happened? LOTS OF COOL THINGS! God answered countless bold prayers when I simply took the time to ask Him.
What might happen if you took the time to present your true requests to God? To ask, seek, and knock? Let God surprise you!
Prod
Set time aside today, turn on today’s song, and intentionally ask, seek, and knock—write down your requests and keep them handy to update them as God works on your behalf!

Jesus, you are at work! Show me your will in my life, and give me the courage to pray bold prayers like this one. I am at your feet, asking for your grace in my life. Your will be done! Amen.

About this Plan
Depression. Loneliness. Comparison. Greed. Addiction. People-pleasing. These are tools of the enemy to steal your calling and rob your joy. In this reading plan, drawn from his book, Lance Lang invites you to neutralize those tools by pausing each day, studying scripture, reading encouragement, taking action, and refocusing your attention on Jesus. Press forward into what God has for you. Press pause.
