Worthy: 10 Mindful Moments to Bring Peace to Your DaySample
Living in the Freedom of Joy
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. ROMANS 15:13 NIV
When was the last time you let yourself feel the fullness of joy? The common anxiety issue is that we convince ourselves to fear things that either haven’t happened or don’t exist. Sometimes it’s so bad that we won’t allow ourselves to get too happy, enjoy ourselves too much, or experience the fullness of a great relationship. We’re untrusting of anything too good.
But the truth is that you can’t experience the fullness of joy without allowing yourself to be vulnerable to the present. Hebrews 11:1 (ESV) reminds us that faith is “the assurance of things hoped for.” The very essence of faith is counterintuitive because instead of seeing and then trusting, it is trusting and then seeing. But it is also experiencing the good because you are trusting and open to seeing it. I believe joy works in the same way. This doesn’t mean we don’t use wisdom and discernment while stepping into the unknown. You are adaptable and resilient should you need to be.
In the meantime, repeat this with me: I am worthy of allowing joy into my life.
Dedicate yourself to one thing that brings you joy this week.
AFFIRMATION:
I am worthy of allowing joy into my life.
