Creation: Devotions From Time of GraceSample
Creation is from God
If you ever want to see the ugliest dinosaur ever, go to my mom’s house. For some odd reason (that only mothers would understand), my mom has kept my fifth-grade art class project--a fire-baked clay dinosaur. Take one look at my pink Uglysaurus and you will realize something about my nature. Art ain’t my thing!
Contrast my art with God’s art. A starry night glowing with a thousand distant dots of light. The complexity of conception and the growth of a soon-to-be-born child. The taste buds on your tongue and the synapses inside your skull. There (and in a billion other places) you will see pure genius and unfathomable power. Perhaps that is why Paul wrote, “God’s invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made” (Romans 1:20). Eternal power. God had the brainpower to think up everything you see. God had the muscle power to turn his creativity into actual creation. What can you say besides, “God is amazing!”?
So often in life we feel weak. Impotent. Powerless. Maybe a word of encouragement is all around us, right here in creation. Creation is preaching a message about its Creator. He is wise. Kind. Brilliant. Powerful. Limitless. Combine those qualities with his reckless love for us found on the cross, and you have a God who can strengthen trembling hearts and weak knees. You have a Creator worth worshiping.
