Chosen to Be a Miracle! Advent Plan Based on “The Chosen"Sample
Day 17: The time has come
Ever since John the Baptist began preaching, I recognized something special in his ministry. I joined him a few years ago, and I became one of his most faithful collaborators, in times of joy and abundance as well as in times of sadness or scarcity.
John, however, always acknowledged that he was not the Messiah, saying that he had a special mission to prepare the way for Him when He did come (John 1:19-28, NKJV). Not long ago, John revealed to us that Jesus of Nazareth was the Messiah. It made sense! I remember the day Jesus came to be baptized by John and how John saw the Heavens opened and the Spirit of God descending upon Him like a dove.
Yes, Jesus' fame preceded Him. We had heard of the miracles He had done, such as the turning of water into wine at the wedding in Cana, the healing of the paralytic, and the deliverance of Mary of Magdala. John, in fact, told us that even a Pharisee named Nicodemus came to Him.
I wanted to become a follower of Jesus, as my good friend Andrew had done a few weeks before, but I had a resolution in my heart not to take the step until John himself asked me to do so. God had commanded me to be with John, and I wanted to serve him for as long as He wanted me to. I didn't want to get ahead of God or force anything.
The good news is that the day had finally arrived! John invited me to go and join Jesus, and so I did. I headed for the province of Bashan in northern Israel, and after a few days of walking, I finally arrived to meet Jesus and His disciples. It was so good to see Andrew again!
When I spoke to Jesus, I immediately felt a special connection—I was filled with joy to follow Him now and be one of His disciples! I couldn't keep quiet. In fact, knowing that we were going to pass near Caesarea Philippi, I took the opportunity to invite a good friend of mine to meet Jesus. Tomorrow, he will tell you his story. ;-)
I have the privilege of following the Messiah every day. My life has more meaning and purpose than ever before!
My name is Philip, and I have been chosen by Jesus.
P.S. Dear friend, it is imperative to always wait for God's guidance before taking important steps in life, just as Philip did. At the same time, the extraordinary news is that you don't have to wait to follow Jesus—He has already personally given you an invitation! He wants to have a personal relationship with you and guide you in your daily journey to give your life an eternal purpose. During these days leading up to Christmas, may you experience His presence more closely and His guidance in all your steps.
