Yahweh: God’s NameSample

Did you know before you say your own name, you must first say the name of God? Whenever you introduce yourself by saying, “I am…[insert your name],” you are actually saying God’s name before your own and referring to Him before you identify yourself! This is because God’s name “Yahweh” is synonymous with “I AM,” just as He told Moses to respond to Pharaoh when asked who he was sent by. Our God’s name is “Yahweh,” the great “I AM!” 

This reveals just how much of our own identity is dependent upon God’s identity. He has created everything about us to flow from Him. There is no other being whose name reflects their state or condition of existence in this way--our God just is! And because He is, we can be. Because He exists, we can exist. And not only do we exist, but through Jesus and the power of the cross, we thrive and are victorious! Our life and existence flows from His, and even more so through the life of Christ! 

Today, take heart in knowing our God “Yahweh.” He wants us to know Him personally. He will never change or fade away, though seasons and situations change around us. And He has created us in His own image to be founded and identify first with the great God of the heavens–the Lord “Yahweh!”
