Feeling Stuck
Imagine a car stuck in a deep muddy puddle. It has turned its wheels so much, trying to get out on its own, that it only made the hole deeper. No human can push it, and no one can pick up the car because it’s too heavy. A phone call is made for a tow truck. The tow truck gets its tools out, connects to the car, and pulls the car through and out of the mud. All the car needed to do was allow the tow to connect and allow the truck to do its job. It did, and now the car is free to operate as a well-functioning car.
Our dreams, visions, and assignments are the car, and the Holy Spirit is the tow truck. We received God’s Spirit so that we can know all that God has given us. The car is stuck and too heavy to be picked up or pulled by any human being. The dreams, visions, and assignments on our lives are too heavy to be picked up. They are even too heavy to be pushed by man. They must be pulled out by a power greater than man.
When we call on the Holy Spirit inside of us, the power of the Holy Spirit comes and pulls on those assignments and dreams. He pulls them through the hard places and the deep places in our lives. Like that car, all we need to do is allow our dreams, visions, and assignments to be connected to the Holy Spirit and let the Holy Spirit do the work.
Our dreams must be present, not buried under fear and doubt or hidden behind unbelief and low self-esteem. We cannot be afraid to dream. I know it gets discouraging when we try and get stuck, but being stuck does not mean it’s over. We should humble ourselves and tell God, “I believe this dream is from you, but if I’m wrong, show me. If it is you, I will give it to you and I will continue to believe you for it.” Then we give it to Him. Like the car, we must allow the Holy Spirit to take over and do the work.
If we’re holding on so tight, running our wheels so much, trying to get out or make it happen, or we’re trying to pick up our dream using human strength to pull it through, we will fail every time. Maybe we’re afraid to dream, afraid of failing, or we’re afraid of getting stuck. Fear will cause those dreams to never be able to be pulled out of us. We will get stuck. It’s a part of the journey, but help is always there. God said he will never leave us nor forsake us. He left us his Spirit to be that helper for us and to help our souls overcome the discouragement of being stuck.
Think About It
1. Do you feel that your dreams are moving along, or do you feel stuck?
2. Think about how easy or difficult it is for you to connect your dreams to the Holy Spirit.
3. Reflect on an experience you had where the Holy Spirit pulled something out of you that you had no idea was in you.
About this Plan
This devotional will take us on a 10-day journey of being renewed, reprogrammed, and transformed in our souls (mind, will, and emotions). We are going to fast from wrong thinking, fast from giving into negative emotions, and fast from things that feed our souls anything unhealthy. How? By allowing the Holy Spirit to renew and reprogram our minds through the Word of God.
