Carriers of His Peace
The Information Age has hit an all-time high with reasons to question everything under the sun, but in that spirit of information gathering, let us be reminded of this one thing: Nothing takes our Creator by surprise. This pandemic, He’s not surprised. The moment that you'll fall in love, He’s not surprised. The exciting news of that miracle baby you’ve been praying for, He’s not surprised. This election, He’s not surprised. From every moment of your past to each detail of Your future, He remains completely all-knowing and totally unsurprised.
Does that make it easy for us to understand why in the world we go through the hardships we face in this life? No. It’s humanly impossible to see all that He sees, but we can choose to put our faith in this promise: As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are His ways higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than our thoughts. We can rest assured that His promises will never return void in our lives. We can count on His goodness, come hell or high water.
Colossians 3:15 AMP says, “Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]…” This verse has led Aus and me out of so many seasons and feelings of hopelessness and fear of the future. It remains our compass even as we are walking through our five-and-a-half-year journey of infertility. Today, we are praying this kind of peace over your hearts and households. May it well up within your heart even right now as you read, and may His promises take you higher than the competing noise in your life, allowing you to be a carrier of His peace and experience the joys of His presence in your home. We're all in this together!
