Giving is Gaining | Living a Generous Life

DAY 3 OF 7

Giving is gaining!

Could there be a secret power connected to generosity? The answer is 100% yes. Generosity is one of the most powerful concepts in personal growth and blessings because the Bible says, “‘Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.’” (Luke 6:38, NIV) We started to look at this verse yesterday, but it’s important to unwrap it a little more to discover its true power.

  1. It all starts with giving. Whether you give money, a car, or your time, it is all about releasing your valuable assets—your time, your resources, and your talents.
  2. Did you notice the promises are connected to giving? It will be given back to you. Now you and I know this is a promise from God. When God speaks, it’s a law. It’s a firm guarantee.
  3. Then Jesus describes the manner in which your giving will be given back: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. Now that’s quite a description. This is the “Law of Giving and Receiving.” The return for generosity is over-abundance. Wow!

For the past 14 years, I have been training leaders in France. Business people and pastors have attended the classes from the series that I wrote. It’s been a blast, but the giving involved about a million dollars. It sounds like we gave a lot away, but in all honesty, we have received so much back in return. Salvations, friendships, insights, impact, new church plants, grants, and a truckload of favor. God is truly incredible!

It sounds risky, but Jesus guarantees that giving isn't losing something—it's gaining a hundred times more.

Don’t forget you’re a miracle.
