Bold Faith - Part 3 - SE StudentsSample
On a scale of 1-10, how patient are you? If you answered honestly, you’re probably somewhere under 5. Most people are. But how would you rate your patience during an embarrassing or weird situation? Probably lower than usual. For most people, the less time spent in a weird situation, the better.
However, that’s not the case when it comes to Joshua and the battle of Jericho. When God commanded Joshua to march around the city while blowing trumpets in order to conquer a city, there’s a good chance that Joshua felt weird and confused about the situation. Imagine having to walk around a city with your trumpets blowing, and the whole time the soldiers inside the city are laughing at you. Now imagine doing that for six more days.
The patience that Joshua and all of Israel had to have is crazy high. Each day they marched around the city probably seemed longer than the one before it. The teasing from the people of Jericho probably grew louder day by day, yet the people of Israel were expected to have patience. In the end, their patience was justified, as the walls of Jericho did come crumbling down. They trusted that God would do as He said, and so they waited patiently.
Do you wait patiently for God? What in your life do you need to pray for more patience with? Today, pray that God would grant you patience and faith that He will provide.
