Business With GodSample
Sometimes God requires more of us than we think we can give. However, God is eager to help us. One word for this is His blessing, which is what this entry is all about. The highest blessing He gives, of course, is His presence and companionship. Through that He releases a host of other blessings.
And this can be difficult for us to believe, because most of us grow up believing we must earn everything, or that it's selfish to receive from God. The first causes us to be stingy, clinging to everything we have. The second causes us to refuse the love God is extending towards us.
Of course, neither of those two ideas are in the Bible. In the kingdom, we steward what our father gives us. We receive all He wants to give, labor with Him as He leads us, and we bear much fruit.
Our startup capital is God's generosity. We give and receive freely, as the Spirit leads us. Our character and work-ethic (which are valuable!) are patiently taught to us by our Heavenly Father as well as supernaturally imparted to us in Christ. Our productivity is, ultimately, achieved through God's BLESSING (as opposed to our efforts).
God's blessing can look so many different ways! Here are a few:
- Inexplicable favor with others
- Supernatural strength (aka joy!)
- Productivity far beyond our ability to achieve
- Receiving money (capital), assets, and/or resources we didn't earn
- Supernatural guidance in what to do (or NOT to do)
- Supernatural solutions that didn't/couldn't exist before
Here are today's questions:
1. Compare the curse on Adam ("by the sweat of your brow") with the blessing of Abraham ("I will bless you and in you all the families of the earth will be blessed"). How is God wanting to reshape your perspective towards work and reward?
2. How does this impact what you think He is calling you to do with your life/business?
