Business With GodSample
Businessmen often excel at taking risks on investments. As Christians, though, our connection with God is our greatest investment. And it can require a great amount of resources. In fact, it requires what could be perceived as "risk" at best and "stupidity" at worst.
Perhaps the most crucial question is: does God have our total trust? This is what we call faith. We often rely on what we can achieve or understand but supernatural fruitfulness is grown in the soil of great trust and intimacy with God.
You may have seen or heard the saying: "Faith is not believing that God can. Faith is knowing that God will." Many of us either doubt, ignore our doubts, or lie to ourselves about the doubts we actually have. We doubt how much God is really in charge. And we doubt how trustworthy He really is.
Jesus, of course, had no such incongruities. He totally trusted God and God showed up every time. Perhaps you know some people like this: they pray and God always shows up for them! And their faith continues to grow.
It's helpful to remember that Jesus was fully intimate with God. I offer this suggestion: if we find trusting God difficult then let's have honest and humble conversations with God about it. We'll develop a greater prayer life, and God will respond to our child-like, humble honesty. Those who seek find.
Once we find, genuine faith will rise in us. And that is precious to God. That will move mountains.
Taking "risks" with God allows His favor to manifest in radical ways. Israel saw the manna fall and the water burst from a rock because they followed God (husbands, wives, children, and livestock) into a dry, barren wilderness. The widow Elijah met had a year's worth of free food because she went with the prophet’s crazy promise, baked her last flour and oil and gave it away. And a young boy saw his lunch feed a crowd of 5000+ because He gave it to Jesus!
God is seeking people and businesses who will trust Him with all of their resources, and who will find all of their security in His presence being with them.
I leave you with two questions:
1. What do you put your trust in? (What makes you feel safe?)
2. How is God asking you to partner with Him in taking risks?
