SE Students - Be the Branch - Part 2Sample
Name-brand shoes like Jordans and Vans have a very loyal following. They are distinct in so many ways—from their logos to the styles that they bring to the street. The most loyal of shoe followers are so true to a brand they can spot the differences between the real thing and the cheap knockoffs that are available.
As disciples, we have to ask the question: Are we the real thing or just a cheap knockoff?
Jesus made the answer clear for us in verse 8 by explaining that His disciples are known by the fruit they produce. In case you're lost, let us remind ourselves what this fruit talk is all about. In John 15:5-7, we learn our dependence and connection to Jesus is supposed to be like branches connected to a vine. When the branches stay connected to the vine, they can bear life-giving fruit, and our lives will produce evidence of that connection in the same way.
Here are some questions you can answer to see if you are the real thing or a knockoff:
- Does your life show evidence of your connection to Jesus?
- Now that you depend on Jesus, is anything different in your life?
Thanks for completing this reading plan! We pray that this helped you get connected to Jesus. We would love to hear from you on how God used this plan in your life. Keep the conversation going by emailing us at keeptalking@secc.org.
