What Would You Change?
If you had the chance of modifying something from your past, what would you change?
When I asked this question in one of our services a few months ago and around 70% of the congregation lifted their hands, something caught my attention.
I've been asked several times about what I would change from everything I did before knowing Christ, and my answer has always been, "Nothing!"
Why wouldn't I change anything? Because I understand that everything I've lived before and after knowing Jesus has brought me to the moment I'm in now.
I've lived with insecurities, faced addictions that almost destroyed my life, and I've seen death face to face. But I wouldn't change those dark, painful or uncertain moments, because all of those experiences before Christ brought me to His feet. Even after knowing Him, the moments that weren't so pleasant helped me become more mature in my faith. To be honest, I wouldn't change a single thing, because I see God's purpose in every step of my life.
Today's verse is easy to quote, but not so easy to live: "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28 (NIV)
Many times we ask ourselves how a situation can help us, or how the damage done to us in the past can bring something positive to our present.
With an earthly perspective, you won't be able to see the good that can come out of any situation. But if you fix your eyes on God, you'll be able to see with an eternal perspective how He has used everything to bring you to the place you are today.
